Dr. Ghassan Shahine
Instructor, HDL, FPGA, and embedded systems design.
Ghassan Shahine is the founder and president of FPGA Xperts. He has deep passion for both teaching and research in the electrical engineering discipline. He developed and taught courses in Logic design, Embedded systems, Hardware Description Languages, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and is currentlly certified to teach thirteen different Xilinx courses.
Ghassan worked on engine misfire detection, advanced traveler information systems, and dynamic route guidance. He was involved in many ITS operational field tests in Southeast Michigan. He applied Digital Signal Processing algorithms in automated electrocardiography, and found novel approaches to arrhythmias detection and classification and a new model for the electrocardiogram.
Ghassan is competent in both the VHDL and Verilog hardware description languages, the Integrated Software environment (ISE) of Xilinx, Chipscope, Xilinx Platform Studio (XPS),MATLAB/SIMULINK, Xilinx System Generator (SYSGEN), and ModelSim.
Ghassan's theoretical background encompasses analog and digital electronics, stochastic processes, digital signal processing, systems, and controls.
Ghassan is currently involved in course development for FPGA Xperts. On the research and development side Ghassan is pursuing work in the OFDM area.
Ghassan holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
